LADD’s Community Connections is Hamilton County’s only non-facilities based day program of its kind in Cincinnati for adults with disabilities. In groups of 3 to 5 adults, participants choose places in the Greater Cincinnati area to explore with one of our social guides. Those outings may include volunteer work or recreational activities.
Community Connections reduces isolation and also provides an opportunity for participants to learn and strengthen life and communication skills, build confidence through decision making, and explore their own likes and dislikes.
The program currently includes 65 five-hour sessions monthly. The first session of the month is a planning session to make decisions for upcoming activities.
“Participants in the program gain confidence through their decisions and experiences,” said Faith Maynard, Community Connections program manager. “Part of this process of advocacy is taking stock of who they are – and what they want to accomplish by exploring what they like and don’t like in the world.”
We asked Jeremy what he likes about Community Connections. Below is what he answered.
